Hera introduces a problem-based learning approach in higher education through which leaners build knowledge by focusing on realistic, non-trivial problems.

A serious game is being developed that exposes students to challenges inspired by real life scenarios. The learning scenarios encourage learners to integrate knowledge from diverse fields, to be critical thinkers, to be able to evaluate information, to synthesize and to validate solutions.

HERA further aims at building instructor capacity on integrating problem-based learning and digital technologies into their classrooms by developing instructor support content in the form of reference guides, end-to-end collaborative learning activities for the classroom built around the HERA serious game, and how-to videos.

The HERA approach aims at livening up the classroom, promoting learner engagement, enriching interaction, and encouraging experimentation.
